NSW Premier Morris Iemma is understood to have pushed the legislation governing the sale of the state's electricity industry through cabinet this morning and plans to rush the bills through caucus at a meeting at 1:30pm today.
The move appears designed to catch the Premier's caucus enemies who oppose the sale by surprise and get the package through prior to the Premier leaving on a trip for China tonight.
The Premier's spokesman Glenn Byres refused to deny the cabinet and caucus meeting involved the electricity legislation and refused to comment further.
