Police say two women without valid licences have been caught more than four times over the breath-alcohol limit in separate parts of New South Wales.
They say a 40-year-old woman caused a four-car pile-up in the northern Sydney suburb of Pymble about 9:20pm (AEST) yesterday, when she crashed into the back of a line of cars at Telegraph Road.
Officers say she then got out of her car and staggered over the road, trying to stop oncoming traffic.
She allegedly got into one of the cars involved in the pile-up and tried to start it.
Police say they arrived while the woman was sitting in the car.
She was taken to Hornsby Police Station, where she allegedly returned a breath-alcohol reading of 0.21.
The woman was charged with high-range drink driving, using a vehicle without the owner's consent and driving with a suspended licence.
She was granted bail to appear in Hornsby Local Court on May 7.
Earlier yesterday, a 25-year-old disqualified driver was arrested after police stopped her for a breath test on the Princes Highway, on the New South Wales south coast, about 1:20pm (AEST).
Police took the Moruya woman to Batemans Bay Police Station, where she allegedly returned a breath-alcohol reading of 0.215.
The woman was charged with high-range drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
She has been refused bail and is due to appear in Narooma Local Court today.
