Pharmacist jailed for sexually abusing sisters

A Brisbane pharmacist has been jailed for sexually abusing two sisters.

The District Court heard 66-year-old Christopher Carnavas committed the offences against the complainant when she was aged between eight and nine years old and her sister in 1989 and 1990.

Prosecutor Kila Pedders told the court, Carnavas forced the girls to perform a sex act on him at his home and at his business while they were in his care, telling the complainant that what had happened was their little secret.

Judge Nicholas Samios told Carnavas the complainant continued to suffer because of what had happened to her.

He jailed Carnavas for 18 months, but suspended the term after three months.
