A federal parliamentary committee is to hold an inquiry into protection for whistleblowers in the public service.
The Lower House committee on legal and constitutional affairs says there are no uniform laws to protect whistleblowers.
A spokesman says effective protection can increase the likelihood of information being disclosed in the public interest.
