Bush track rapist jailed

A serial pervert who ambushed female joggers in bushland in and around Sydney has been jailed for eight years.

Matthew Peter O'Keefe, 31, of Wentworthville in Sydney's west, was convicted by a Sydney District Court jury in March this year of attacking four women on isolated bush tracks between January 2006 and January 2007.

Judge Anthony Puckeridge today sentenced O'Keefe to a maximum 10 years' jail on four courts of rape and six of indecent assault.

The judge said the escalating incidents, which culminated in the rape of a woman in the Lane Cove National Park, involved fear and intimidation.

With time already served O'Keefe will be eligible for parole in February 2015
