A 33-year-old man from the New South Wales Hunter Valley will spend at least five years in jail for shaking a 17-month-old girl to death.
The child was found dead in the bedroom of her family's home at Mount Hutton in January 2005.
A post-mortem examination found she died from head injuries.
The man, who cannot be named, has been sentenced to nine years jail.
He will be eligible for parole in March 2013 because of time served.
